Although it’s been a rather mild winter, we’re still having some miserable days outside mixed in from time to time. The kind of days where it’s 37 degrees and there is a steady rain coming down. The kind of day where it’s a challenge just to get out of the pj’s and try to mount an offensive to get something done. Sometimes you’re more successful than others, and you’re completely OK with the failure to accomplish anything productive. Today is one of those days.
Lauren set out early to hit the gym and the grocery store. That left the two boys at home. With a few hours to ourselves and no real place to go, I knew it was going to be a challenge to keep a 3 year old entertained without turning on the TV. That would be the easy way out.
Challenge accepted.
Brayden has a great imagination. In fact, he’s got it in aces. He can play for hours all by himself with no injection of outside creativity. Sometimes, he’ll do something he’s never done before and it gets me laughing- and grabbing the camera. Take today’s makeshift backpack for example. I’m not sure of the source of inspiration, but he was loving it. When the moment arrived that he realized that he could fit in the backpack, well- let’s just say that it turned into an interesting game of hide and seek.
Although most of the day was spent veggin, we did manage to become productive. Lauren took a chance on a recipe for homemade cheezits, and we had a brief visit to the library. For someone who was itching to go, he sure was ready to roll rather quickly. Our trip lasted all of about 15 minutes.
Oh well…time to get back to doing nothing:)
