Headed back to the county music capital for another visit with the in-laws and family. What a great city. I say it all of the time, but I really mean it. It’s a place with so much character, diversity, and enough things to do to keep myself and my 2 yr old busy. During this visit, we explored Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Arrington Vinyards, Broadway in downtown Nashville, and a day trip to visit my wife’s 92 yr old Great-grandpa and extended family in Florence, Alabama.
Cheekwood has a miniature train display outdoors from June to December. It is pretty impressive to say the least.
Brayden was totally stalking this cat. They had a few of them lounging in the historic Hatch Show Print on Broadway.
Now this was an eventful visit. First of all, Arrington Vinyards was founded by Kix Brooks of Brooks and Dunn. Already a winner in my book. We decided to have a sunset picnic on the hillside overlooking the vines and the rolling hills in the distance. As we were setting up camp, we noticed a baby bird hopping along in the grass.
Just as we thought we had seen all of the wildlife we were going to see for the day, we were once again surprised. A 5 foot long rat snake decided to crash the party. My wife was the first to see it, and as she was freaking out, everyone within a 40 foot radius was wondering what was going on. Soon, the hillside was vacated, except for our group. My sister-in-law was determined to pick it up, but settled for handling it with a stick. We still got pictures though:)
