This year the annual family vacation was spent in Salvo, NC on the Outer Banks. My wife nor my brother had ever vacationed on the Banks, so we thought that this would be a perfect location. We went after Labor day for the beginning of the “off-peak season” when the crowds and rates dropped dramatically. We spent the week touring Hatteras Lighthouse, climbing Jockey’s Ridge, riding the ferry to Okracoke Island, and when we weren’t sightseeing we had the truck parked out on the beach. The weather could not have been more perfect although the water was a little chilly. My wife was determined to catch a shark but unfortunately we came up a little empty handed…maybe next year.
